Return to the Orchard at Altapass

To reach The Historic Orchard at Altapass from Boone/Blowing Rock on

The Blue Ridge Parkway: Take the Parkway about 40 miles south from Hwy 321.

Pass Julian Price Memorial Park Park Lake, cross the very scenic Linn Cove Viaduct

north of Linville, pass the exit at Hwy 221 to Grandfather Mountain, pass

Linville Falls and then Bear Den Overlook, one of the most beautiful overlooks on the Parkway.

The Orchard is at Orchard Road, less than 1/2 mile past McKinney Gap (on the left).

To reach The Historic Orchard at Altapass on The Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville:

Take The Parkway and travel north 52 miles from the entrance nearest the Folk Art Museum.

The drive takes you past beautiful Craggy Gardens, the entrance to Mount Mitchell State Park

(at Hwy 128), Crabtree Meadows (picnic grounds, restaurant, walk to Crabtree
Falls at Milepost 340), Little Switzerland (hotel, cafe, gift shops at Milepost 336),

and 3 miles past the Museum of North Carolina Minerals (see map above).
