Welcome to the Orchard at Altapass

The Orchard at Altapass is an Appalachian cultural and historical center celebrating the people, music, art, and natural beauty of the Blue Ridge mountains in North Carolina. Built by the Clinchfield Railroad over 100 years ago, the Orchard sits right on the Parkway providing some of the most amazing scenery in the Appalachian Mountains.

While you tap your toes to our authentic mountain music our talented staff serve up our fabulous ice cream and our famous Orchard  fudge, made fresh by Miss Charlotte right in the Orchard shop. You are welcome to enjoy our local mountain arts, jams, jellies, sauces, sweets, gifts, and more! Large or small tour groups and individuals are all invited to take Orchard hayrides while gazing out at the picture-perfect views and listening to stories that have shaped our area for centuries.

We are open May 16 to October 31

Monday 10-6, Wednesday-Saturday 10-6, Sunday 12-6

CLOSED ON TUESDAYS except in October when we are open every day of the week from 10-6

See the apple page for crop news!

Orchard products make memorable gifts and are available all year-round!

We also specialize in books of local interest, music CDs (by our favorite local performers), and handmade items straight from this corner of the Blue Ridge. Questions? Call us, we're happy to help!
